1 green onion chopped (separate the white parts from the green)
1 pkg (113.5 g / 4 oz) sliced shiitake mushrooms or any other kind of mushrooms
5 ml (1 teaspoon) five-spice powder
The zest of one lemon
Salt and pepper to taste
Roasted sesame seeds to decorate
Preparation
The following can be prepared the previous evening
Chop garlic and green onion, and then prepare lemon zest.
Mix and place in a sealed container.
To save time, you can also cook the pasta and carrots beforehand. Simply reheat when serving.
In a saucepan, heat vegetable oil on medium-high heat and cook milk-fed veal chops for 1 minute on each side or until brown. Remove and keep warm.
In the same saucepan, add coconut milk and chicken broth. Bring to a boil. Scrape the bottom of pan to remove all residue. Add garlic, white part of the green onion, mushrooms, five-spice powder and lemon zest. Salt and pepper to taste.
Bring to a boil and add chops. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer for
20 to 25 minutes or until sauce starts to thicken and meat is tender.
Serve chops covered with sauce. Sprinkle green part of the green onion and roasted sesame seeds. Serve with lemon and pepper flavoured pasta and carrot slices.
Variation: replace roasted sesame seeds with chopped peanuts.
